Fall Garden Shawl !


Hand-painted-look yarn in a palette of soft, earthy hues brings to mind the colors of autumn fields in thiis light, yet cozy shawl.
FINISHED SIZE: 30x54 inches
MATERIALS: Crystal Palace Mini Mochi super fine (fingering) weight wool/ nylon yarn (13/4oz/195 yds/50g per ball): 5 balls #311 Negril sunset
Size D/3/3.25mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

GAUGE: Motif = 6 inches
PATTERN NOTE
Join with slip stitch as indicated unless otherwise stated.
SPECIAL STITCH
Magic circle: Wrap yarn twice around index finger, insert hook in center of circle, yo, draw up a lp, ch 1 and continue rnd. Before joining, gently pull rem end to close opening and secure.
SHAWL
First Motif
Rnd 1: Work magic circle (see Special Stitch), 6 sc in circle, join (see Pattern Note) in first sc. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in first sc, [ch 5, sc in next sc] 5 times, ch 2, join with dc in first sc forming last ch sp. (6 ch-5 sps, 6 sc)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same ch sp as beg ch-1, [ch 5, sc in next ch-5 sp] 5 times, ch 2, join with dc in first sc forming last ch sp. (6 ch-5 sps, 6 sc)
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in same ch sp as beg ch-1, [ch 8, sc in next ch-5 sp] 5 times, ch 3, join with dtr (see Stitch Guide) in first sc forming last ch sp. (6 ch-8 sps, 6 sc)
Rnd 5: Ch 1, sc in same ch sp as beg ch-1, [ch 9, sc in next ch-8 sp] 6 times, join in first sc. (6 ch-9 sps,6 sc)
Rnd 6: Ch 1, (sc, hdc, 5 dc, ch 5, 5 dc, hdc, sc) in each ch-9 sp around, join in first sc. Fasten off.
Next Motifs
Make 55.
Getting Started: Next Motifs are joined with sl st to adjacent ch-5 sp on 2, 3 or 4 ch-5 sps depending on the location of Motif.
Rnds 1-5: Rep mds 1-5 of First Motif.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, (sc, hdc, 5 dc, ch 5, 5 dc, hdc, sc) in first ch-9 sp, [(sc, hdc, 5 dc, ch 2, si st in corresponding ch-5 sp of adjacent Motif, ch 2, 5 dc, hdc, sc) in next ch-9 sp] twice, (sc, hdc, 5 dc, ch 5, 5 dc, hdc, sc) in each rem ch-9 sp around, join in first sc. Fasten off.
Beg at bottom of Shawl with a row of 5 Motifs. The next row up will be 6 Motifs, the next row up will be 7 Motifs, continue to inc 1 Motif each row until the 7th row contains a total of 11 Motifs across.
